He holds a combined BEng/MEng Diploma in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens. A passionate advocate for safety, prevention, and proactive culture in shipping, he is a certified MLC 2006 Trainer/Inspector by the ILO and a Lead Auditor for both ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
Renowned for his expertise in Safety Management System (SMS) simplification, dry bulk pre-vetting, risk assessment innovation, investigations, and behavioral audits, Mr. Petros Achtypis has led Prevention At Sea to international acclaim. Under his leadership, Prevention at Sea has received multiple Lloyd’s List Awards, the NAMEPA Innovation Award and the Tanker Shipping & Trade Technical Award in 2017, and has been a finalist for multiple Lloyd’s List Innovation and Safety Awards across global regions.
